Scholarships and Awards
The Foundation for Los Angeles Pierce College continually raises money to fund scholarships, making a real-life difference for the recipients. Scholarships are offered to all students to assist them in achieving their educational goals.
Scholarship Process
Overview: Next Gen is a digital platform designed for managing scholarship applications, allowing students to apply for various scholarships with ease.

- Student Application: Students fill out a general application that is stored in the Next Gen database.
- Scholarship Population: Administrators populate specific scholarships within the platform, including their respective requirements and funding information.
- Matching Process: The system runs matches between students who have applied and available scholarships based on the criteria provided.
- Review and Verification: Administrators review student profiles to ensure they meet scholarship criteria and verify application accuracy.
- Streamlined Application Process: Students can apply for multiple scholarships with a single application, reducing administrative burdens.
- Increased Transparency: Next Gen provides real-time updates on the status of applications and awards.
- Improved Data Management: The system helps track and manage scholarship data efficiently.
- Funding: The Foundation for Pierce College disburses funds to scholarships as they become available on Next Gen.
- Notification: When a scholarship recipient is selected, the student will receive an email notification via both personal and school email addresses.
- Disbursement: LACCD transfers the awarded funds directly to the student's account.
- Deposits are made 2-3 months after scholarship selection to the students school account
- Checks are not mailed/or deposited.
Apply for LA Pierce College Foundation Scholarships online
Scholarship applications will be available on March 15, 2024. The deadline to submit the online application is April 26, 2024
Scholarship funds will be delivered to you through the Bank Mobile payment process. Please look out for an email from Bank Mobile instructing you of next steps to select your refund preference.
Scholarship recipients will be notified May 31, 2024. Recipients have 60 days from notification date to claim the award or funds will be returned to the Foundation scholarship account.
- Go to your portal at mycollege.laccd.edu and enter your student ID and password.
- From your Student Homepage, select “Key Links & Help”.
- Within “Key Links & Help”, select “Scholarships”.
- You will be redirected to the NextGen scholarship platform.
- Select “Login Here” under Student Login.
- You will be taken to the main page listing the scholarships for which you may be qualified based on the scholarship’s criteria.
- Select the scholarship(s) you wish to apply and submit an application. There are some scholarships which require additional items such as letters of recommendation, verification of financial need or an essay which you can also complete online.
Note: Many of the questions will have responses that have been auto-populated with your data from the Student Information System.

7 scholarships available at $1450 each
Adelson Educational Fund given through the California Community College Foundation Scholarship – 1 award @ $500.00
The scholarship criteria and requirements are:
Don Brownlee Scholarship
Outstanding Foster student Scholarship 1 - $700
Foster Student Emergency Fund 1- $700
Pierce-Krost CPAs/KBKG Scholarship Fund Two awards at $5,000 each.
The scholarship is for students who are actively and objectively pursuing an Associate's Degree, preferably in one of the following disciplines:
The candidate should be interested in/available for internships and mentorships.
Ken Weiser Memorial Scholarship – 2 scholarships at $500.00 each
The scholarship criteria and requirements are:
Gold’s Inspiration Scholarship - one scholarship at $500.00
This scholarship is to assist students who have had significant life challenges (struggled with alcoholism/substance abuse and are in recovery) yet recovered from such.
The scholarship criteria and requirements are:
Reseda Women’s Club
Three scholarships are available:
West Hills Auxiliary Medical Scholarship – 2 scholarships available at $500
This scholarship is to assist currently enrolled students who upon graduation are planning to transfer to a four-year university.
The scholarship criteria and requirements are:
Victoria Principal Foundation Scholarship – 2 scholarships available at $1,000 each
7 scholarships available at $1450 each

- Minimum semester units completed of 12
- Currently enrolled full-time (12 units or more)
- Cumulative grade point average of 2.6 or higher

- One page essay to address “How do you see Los Angeles Pierce College helping you achieve your career goals?”
Don Brownlee Scholarship
Outstanding Foster student Scholarship 1 - $700

- Currently enrolled foster student
- Enrolled with min. 4-6 units
- Cumulative grade point average (gpa) 2.00 or higher
- Have good attendance
- Letter of recommendation from a Pierce College faculty member
Pierce-Krost CPAs/KBKG Scholarship Fund Two awards at $5,000 each.
The scholarship is for students who are actively and objectively pursuing an Associate's Degree, preferably in one of the following disciplines:
- Accounting/Finance
- Business Administration
- Computer Science & Technology
- Engineering
- Engineering & Computer Science
- Finance
- Mathematics
- At the time of applying for the award, students should be enrolled at LA Pierce College, be affiliated with the Umoja Program and carry at least six (6) units. Note that the student may be enrolled part-time at the time of application; however, students must be enrolled as full-time at the time that the award is released.
- Students should have declared a major in one of the disciplines listed above, or, should have expressed a strong interest in declaring their major in these programs within one (1) year of their full-time enrollment.
The candidate should be interested in/available for internships and mentorships.
Ken Weiser Memorial Scholarship – 2 scholarships at $500.00 each
The scholarship criteria and requirements are:
- Enrolled full-time (12 units or more)
- Major in Math, Engineering, or Arts
- Cumulative grade point average (gpa) of 3.0 or higher
- Must be involved in the community
- One-page essay describing why you want to receive the scholarship, your goals and accomplishments, and your educational plans for the future.
Gold’s Inspiration Scholarship - one scholarship at $500.00
This scholarship is to assist students who have had significant life challenges (struggled with alcoholism/substance abuse and are in recovery) yet recovered from such.
The scholarship criteria and requirements are:
- Must have completed two 6 unit consecutive semesters or one semester of 12 units
- Cumulative grade point average (gpa) of 3.0 or higher
- One-page minimum essay describing what it was like while you were in addiction and what is like now that you are in recovery. What is your motivation to continue your education? Also briefly state what your educational plans are for the future.
Reseda Women’s Club
Three scholarships are available:
- Two $500 scholarships for students who have earned between 15 and 30 units.
- One $1,000 scholarship to a student who is graduating at the end of spring 2021, will be transferring to a four-year college or university, and will be a continuing students in a Science area.
- Must be currently enrolled at Los Angeles Pierce College
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Major in one of the following science areas: Life Science, Physical Science, or Animal Science
- One page essay describing your short and long-term educational goals, financial need, and why you have selected the specific area of science to major in.
- Cumulative grade point average (gpa) of 2.5 or higher
West Hills Auxiliary Medical Scholarship – 2 scholarships available at $500
This scholarship is to assist currently enrolled students who upon graduation are planning to transfer to a four-year university.
The scholarship criteria and requirements are:
- Cumulative grade point average (gpa) of 2.5 or higher
- Minimum semester units of 12
- Demonstrate financial need
- One-page essay describing why you want to receive the scholarship, your ultimate goals and your plans to transfer.
Victoria Principal Foundation Scholarship – 2 scholarships available at $1,000 each
- Completed at least one semester of Equine Studies
- Have an excellent attendance record
- Earned at least 2.0 grade point average in Equine Studies
- Enrolled In Equine for next semester if not graduating.
- Graduates need to show proof of acceptance into a college level Equine studies program.
- Receive a letter of recommendation from the Equine Department Professor or Chair
